Today he could focus briefly. Now he can breathe shallowly and barely regain consciousness.<br /><br />The nursing staff are really good at communicating clearly and non-patronisingly even when someone can barely respond.<br /><br />Between them grandma and grandfather raised me to be a third generation atheist and a third generation vegetarian, and were my favourite possible grandparents in the world.<br /><br />He was a great man.
