Wouldn't it be worth jumping up and boinking your head if afterwards you could grab ahold of something on the roof of the lift. I figure if you're going to survive you'd be better off dangling from the ceiling than sitting on the floor. Worst that could happen is you'd dislocate your arms.
This seemed highly logical when I experimented with a coke bottle and a rubber a second ago, but now it seems destined to fail and I'm not sure why.
