Aw, cute face! :) Yes, that would make sense. If you *could* hold on, you'd break your arms, but hopefully not bludgeon your internals, I think. You might be able to chain yourself to the ceiling or something to get the same effect.
If you used something elastic, or filled the lift with mattresses, you could retard the impact and perhaps survive. But I think if you had the mattresses on the first place you'd have done that anyway.
