I've only read a couple of Neil Gaimen, but this one grabbed me and I really enjoyed it. Now I need to find American Gods again, but I can't -- I know it's in my flat somewhere, and I thought I knew where all the piles were, but apparently not.

* We discover he and his brother were one child split in two by magic, but instead of as is traditional being combined and then having the personality of the main character, but a bit better, both become decent people in their own way. The analogy used in the book is like a starfish cut in two, each half grows into a whole.

* The mythology is something like the "how the * became" or other book where the characters are animals, and better than most makes them both animals and people at the same time.
