With thanks to Pippa, etc. Unfortunately, it appears non-deterministic, so I can't show you the hitman I was described as first, but it is very funny, so here it is.
I'm Jack. I've never really acquired an online identity, though some people recognise "CartesiaDaemon" without knowing me in real life. In retrospect I don't know if it's wise or not: my online comments aren't me, and a future employer could find them. But trying to maintain a distance would only be a leaky protection.
At school I didn't have nicknames except to be refered to by generic boys names: Dave, Brian, etc. And of course at Trinity I was a pseudodave.
Some people have slightly adopted "Captain Jack", as mentioned when I had my birthday party.
"Ethernet Jack" never really took off.
But the newest suggestion: "Captain Firecrotch", really takes the biscuit!
