There's been two spooky coincidences while I've been reading Niven's Mote books.
Firstly, he said you'd have to accelerate at 1g for 125 hours to reach 6% c, and 125h*3600s/h*10m/s/s ~ 3x10^8m/s*0.1, but I put that down to him having done the same calculation.
Secondly, this book, and also a weird collaberative children's book I got from the library for nostalgia (netforce explorers) both denote by "spatball" different invented zero-g ball games. It obviously just sounds like that *shrug*
