Prefab in trinity college

A large alien mothership has landed in Trinity College (Cambridge), disguising itself as an unlikely prefabricated building with lots of ducts, pipes, and LED-covered measuring devices taking up the whole south quadrant of great court, and extending tendrils round the corner nearly to New Court. It sealed off the entrance to the great hall buildings.

What is it?

(It looks like a staging area for some work on the buildings, but I'm still curious.)
