Nov. 4th, 2010 06:50 pmSomeone linked to a description of her life http://www.slate.com/id/2233966/. I can't vouch for its accuracy, but it wasn't very complimentary about her work, but made me sympathise and respect her an awful lot more.
That her themes of individualism and strikes and progress and sexual dominance and so on might not be universal insights, but were a very apt reaction to HER situation.
And that for all the criticism I have, the books are obviously great along SOME axis, in that despite my many reservations, they made some impression on me (and many people really enjoy them, whether or not they agree with the implications).
