OK, this is a fairly brief recap, I had a couple of fairly short sessions this week.

The fungusoids

They insulted me when we were ALREADY at war.

I tried rolling through their territory with the war fleet I had to learn how wars work etc. But I needed a planet in order for my war of liberation to "stick" and actually create a new empire from the captured territory. And I got a few systems, including a massively mineral rich one.

And as war exhaustion ticked up toward an armistice (a "status quo" peace), they started to sound more worried and making me increasingly reasonable offers, although none better than just letting it play out, because I'd still hoped to sneak a planet from them.

But I found they had a bigger fleet, and things went badly from there, and I scrambled to catch up. And ended up losing one of the border systems I had, and nearly losing another, and not making any gains. But at least I tried out the war system.

I wasn't sure, but it looked like they had ONE big fleet that they repaired between skirmishes, but my fleet had been whittled down too much and was just not equal to it.

After the war, then I got a plague of pirates who were nearly as strong, and it took a few false starts before I a big enough fleet back to get rid of them.

And then I spent a while on fast forward building up mineral income, dealing with pirates, and building up borders. And I'd HOPED to build up a big fleet before I had another conflict with them. But they got there first and this time THEY declared war. Which is good because I can actually claim systems if I'm defending from the moral high ground. But bad, because they flew TWO big fleets with army transports right at my core worlds and trampled all over my starbases which a few decades earlier had been bigger than any attacking fleet was likely to be.

But they weren't very good at it because they conquered some planetary systems, but didn't officially claim them, and ran their troop carrier straight into enemy fire so can't easily take the planets either.

But I'm not in a great position -- I retook one system, but need to build up a fleet enough to take on their main fleet. Or give up and let them have it and rebuild and just hide from them. And there's EVEN MORE pirates who are EVEN STRONGER running around and I don't have the resources to deal with them.

I did manage to sneak a science ship and construction vessel into the empty space beyond them.

Other occurances

I got insulted by the Banthurian Reavers. I mean, they ALREADY want to kill and enslave everyone else, I don't dislike them a whole lot more now, and they're already on the other side of the galaxy.

The hippie gas giant aliens found 500 minerals they didn't want and asked if I could get rid of them for them. Sure!

Ooh, if I recruit armies, I can hire the morlocks (the underground super-strong physics-talented race) from my Gaia world!

I met several other spiritualist empires and we all quite like each other. But we all got more spiritualist! I think I'd rather we were all xenophile or pacifist or egalitarian but I'm not sure I can change course now.

Now I'm confused, I used to have a sensor link with some empires and now don't, and there's a lot of stars shown but without any connections. I wish, if you'd previously seen something (LIKE A COMPATIBLE PLANET) you automatically remembered it :)

I was able to offer non-agression pacts and migration treaties to some other empires, I don't have any immigrants yet but I hope I will.
