I spent a day trying to recapture the last image in more detail. I photographed her against fast moving backgrounds, against lights, against bold colours. The first picture that seemed to have a hint of it was her patting down her hair on the side of her head, in front of an elegant standard lamp. I shot from slightly below her head, and the bulb overwhelmed the picture apart from a silhouette of her head, surrounded by a halo of glowing, frizzy wisps of hair.

The preview on my camera's screen caught my eye first, but we were in a friend's living room, and I was able to explore the image. I kept repeating that shot, trying to bring out the elements I saw, and ended with a series of startling photos, a black hand clutching at a head against a fighting aurora.

It captured the feel of "something coming", but I couldn't get any more details from that image. I went on looking, and the picture that finally started revealing things showed her against a sunset. It would take several days to track down, as I could only photograph it for about half an hour a day, but even the preliminary pictures were evocative and ominous.
