he's arguing - I *think* [hey, look, if I say 'think' instead then I don't have to worry about which kind of belief it is] - that the factual one *could* be proved right if you took enough measurements, while the moral one never could. it seems to me at least that which things you might put in which class varies from person to person, though.

surely there are different greek words for different types of belief?

you can't call it knowing till you've taken all the measurements every, otherwise something might pop up and prove you wrong at the last minute ;)
