Sorry, sorry, but you knew I was bound to reply...

Must figure out how do do that "quote in italics" thing. Ah well , in order:

Dooku was toast as it was an Sith apprentice v. apprentice match. Notice how the scene matches the Luke/Vader fight setting in Return. There are only two Sith, so if Sidious wants his shiny new apprentice he has to sacrifice the other. Knowing this, Dooku was dumb enough to believe Sidious when he told him he'd stop the fight if D was in any real danger. D'oh.

Indeed, Ani make me think of small, red-headed orphans. and singing.

Vader did indeed kneel to Palpatine in his office, but the Emperor came to the Jedi temple (presumably to activate the beacon/nick the Jedi Holocrons) and the shot was of Anakin kneeling to him there. I hope they took all the kneeling he's going to be doing into account when designing Vader's kneepads.

As Sidious took out Mace, Kit and co together, Yoda presumably thinks that Obi-wan has a better chance to take out/turn back Vader than of being much help againt the Emperor. Yoda says something in the book about that separately they may "create a chance". Maybe the "force prompted him" in order to save the twins, creating a chance to beat the Sith later. If in doubt, apply "Standard Star Wars Plot Loop Hole Closer Number 1".

The clones also killed the other Jedi on-planet first, meaning even if Yoda hadn't sensed all the other's, he was still forewarned. You'd have thought Sidious might have told them to get the short green one first, but maybe he wanted Yoda to see his order destroyed.

You can see Tarkin on the bridge of the Star Destroyer at the end, with the Emperor and Vader. Leia makes a comment about him "Holding Vader's leash" but, in a classic bit of bad dialog, she also says she "recognised his foul stench" when she was brought on board (recently replaced as my favourite bad line by the whole "..it will take us to a place we cannot go" thing). He might be a Governor but I have a feeling he'd start developing breathing problems if he tried 'leashing' Vader.

I beileve in the novelisation Padme make's similar comments about how unlikely she is to die in childbirth. And any normal person trying to avoid his dreams might have stayed with her continuously/suggested an early C-section/performed one himself with a lightsabre or many things other than slaughter a load of Jedi younglings. May be Sidious was messing with his mind, he was supposed to be sleep deprived too. As with any tragedy when you *know* it's going to end badly (except for Troy, where apparently they all escaped through the tunnels) there are a million little (and some huge and blatantly obvious) things which could prevent it and you spend the film watching none of them happen.

By the way, you do realise it's all Mace's fault, right?
