Do you think it's important to maintain the distinction between "University of Cambridge" and "Cambridge University"? Do you think it's likely to make a difference?

Admittedly, if I get into the habit of using the official spelling of the name, there's less chance of getting it wrong if I ever have to write it down in print somewhere, or refer to a different university where "University of X" and "X University" are both relevant but different organisations.

On the other hand, the oldest records we have of the university are in latin, does that really distinguishes between "U of C" and "C U"?
