Oh, and the Cambridge Writer's Guild again rose from the ashes, with new and dynamic people promising to make it work *this* year. It'd be really good to combine all these proto-writing-organisations (camwriters, jomsburg tradiitonal things, etc) around here, attract the number of people I know who have actually completed novels and are good, think about the magazines that publish, etc.

It existed last year, but mainly seemed to email announcements to other events like poetry readings and magazine submission deadlines. Two years ago there were some writers groups, etc, but this was before I wrote and I don't know what happened to them in the end.

The previous head quill left, and I didn't hear about a replacement, but I passed their stall and met someone there filling in, and signed up again in case my email had been borked. He said there were four motivated people hoping to make something of it, but I don't know what.

The first event was a poetry thing again. Quite possibly the best approach is to contact the committee. Perhaps if they had discussion boards of various sorts it might reach critical mass; at least they have a wide email list.

Last year the email address was cambridgewritersguild@yahoo.co.uk, but I don't know if that's still current.
