"It's different for everybody. Many of our FTC's (First Time Cuddlers) don't want to cuddle with strangers at all."

IHNTA. Um. It's sort of, well, hugging people is a good was to show trust, etc, and I approve. It might be good to train the next generation in non-sexual physical affection. But having specific events where you meet up with other aficianados you don't know just seems waaaaaaay too regimented.

A massage party, that makes sense. I need to practice :)

But cuddles are nice, too - QED...

So are many things from all walks of life it seems somewhat strange to invite strangers to. I don't know, maybe we're all repressed :)

*agrees with the Mole*

There should definitely be more cuddles in the world. This, of course, is one of the reasons why cats exist. :-)

You've never seen the hordes of grinning Oblivionites chanting "Mole/Jack OTP" though... it's sort of worrying...

Sort of worrying? You sound like my mother! I should say it was outright scary. :-D

ROFL. I get that sort of thing a lot at Oblivion...

But you're so slashable!

Personally, I'm just glad they've moved on from Nick/Ewan.

LOL. Um, thanks, sort of. But somehow I'm surprised "big and cuddly" is the new "tall dark and handsome"... :)

Sorry to be entirely xenophobic but that is so American.

LOL. Well, yes. But what, exactly, makes it so?

Oh. Well, I didn't read *all* of the site, I just responded to the idea. Somehow the picture on the front page was sickeningly faux-good-clean-fun...

Yerk!

OK "If you're in a relationship, communicate and set your boundaries and agreements BEFORE you go to the Cuddle Party. Don't re-negotiate those agreements/boundaries during the Cuddle Party. (Trust us on this one.)" is funny :)

Did you not hear about Shiela? I think Isobel joined, and they were famous for having giant circles of massage...

I didn't hear all of that.:) But I have heard of them and was warned away by several people!

Awwwwww! Now *there's* an icon I'd invite to a cuddle party.

I'm not scared personally, it just didn't quite fall into the category of "insane people most people would trust from their looks not to turn a pygamy party into a slasher movie" ;)

Seems a good way to help you towards getting your 12 a day though...

From: [identity profile] cartesiandaemon.livejournal.com
Mmmm. But not really. However many you get at a party, it's not going to bring your daily average up much. For that you need *regular* contact. The party would be best spent forming comfortable hug relationships with friends and family so you can hug them when you see them, if that's what you want.

A couple of months ago on holidy I claimed my free hug off a stranger holding a sign offering them in the middle of the street. It's something I'd like to bring over here, but don't think I'd quite have the confidence to do it.

Ooh. Hmmm. Lovely idea, I'm just worried it'd seem a bit dodgy. And sometimes I don't want to hug anyone and sometimes I just don't feel like hugging someone particular, which would be awkward to say in a sandwich-board-offering situation.
