Writing is fun. Rearranging it so it's in a logical order, and making sure every fact and facet you want is shown in the right place, can get tedious.

And then I run out one paragraph before the end. It's long enough, I just need a warm-down. I should be able to just throw Vimes and $main_character into a room together and let them talk it out, but it requires Vimes not to recognise him. Whoops. Maybe I can just cull something amusing from elsewhere in the story and blit it to the end.

Hey, it sounds like it's going well, though. I want to read, just as soon as I can reliably receive it...

You know, sometimes doing character exercises is reccommended to help with characterisation (can't stand them myself). It's all stuff like, write a biography of your character so you know them inside out and don't make mistakes, or sit two of your characters in an empty room together and imagine what they'd say to each other. If you ask me, the first is common sense and the second just might turn out to be, you know, in the story...

I think I've fixed it. I threw together two *other* pairs, and it seems to work. Unfortunately the ending is a bit sappy, but I can't think of anything better.

I think it'll get to the point where there's nothing I can add tonight. I'll share it with you then in case your computer is still playing nice.
