(1) Angelofthenorth has the best blonde joke on the web

Update: That might be friends locked, try here: http://www.livejournal.com/users/griffjon/97855.html.

(2) Also, "If there is at least one person in your life whom you consider a close friend, and whom you would not have met without the Internet, post this sentence in your journal." I'm not sure if I can quite count this, but close enough I think. I'm not sure if you should say who, but I guess it makes more sense not to.

(3) From foreverdirt: 25 Things You Didn't Know When You Voted For UKIP (and why you'll never vote for them again). Especially see the titles for 6, 7, 8 and 9.
9. Steve Reed has also stated: “[‘Renewable resources’] are not renewable… Taking energy from winds and tides irreversibly enervates the weather system and slows the rotation of the Earth”.36
(4) "How much can you tell about me from looking at my house/room, and is it right?" meme, (re)invented from a wednesdayschild comment.
I have lots of books, mostly scifi, mostly second hand. I'm tidy in rooms people visit, and messy in rooms they don't. I do the washing up. (This isn't by and large true, but it's done right now.) I have a small number of DVDs and computer games and almost no music.
"How about from looking at my computer?" corrolary meme:
I do a fair bit of writing. I'm a windows weenie (not quite true, but I mostly use the computer for things windows is good at, and the occasional five minutes of swearing because windows help doesn't exist hasn't quite made me change yet). I read webcomics. I play a variety of old adventure games, and uninstall them when I'm done. (At least, I have recently.)

I've been trying to get a dec hauappage box to work, without much success, though installing in french made the new driver run, which I need to test. I have almost no music here either. I have almost no porn. I keep all my important day-to-day docs in fairly organised folders on a usb pen thing.

It's annoying, after playing around with Saldini II for ages, I wrote 5000 words of this last night. I think it's because:

(1) PTerry's characters are better than mine, so easier to write with.
(2) Aiming for something short quickly written means I can just get on with it without pressure to make it *right*, which works better.

Basic plot: a mysterious and cryptic murder of the professer of Recursive Herbology[1] in the unseen university sends Ridcully to Vimes for help, where he interrupts a thieves guild protection expiry riot. ∃ female wizard.

If you want to see, there's a link here: http://www.srcf.ucam.org/~jv233/fic/recursiveherbology005a.htm

I'm afraid: (1) I don't know if I'll finish it, so I decided to share what I had. If you like finsihed things, please ignore it. (2) It's in MSWord html. Sorry, I couldn't be bothered to do it properly.

PS. It's compeltely unrelated to the last story http://www.srcf.ucam.org/~jv233/fic/graveyardshift_beta_1.php, but that's probably better, so it might be best to read it first.

Update: fixed dodgy html
