As I was cycling to the cinema, I ciasp both Mobbsy and ewx in the distance going different ways. Liz said she ciasp me on Saturday when the chain came off my bike -- that is my jizz[1].

And at the cinema I ciasped lots of incidental geeks, such as liz, and even people from work.

The funniest thing was, it was raining fairly heavily, but everyone had brought a towel. Hoopy froods really SHOULD know where their towels are at!

There was a cinema guy at the front with a stall of sweets and things. It felt nostalgic, and that was definitely before my time :) Of course, many people instantly shouted out "Are *they* free too?"

All: Are they free too?
Man: No.
Someone: Are they free yet?
Man: No.
...
Someone: How about now?

The review of actual cinemtatographic things will follow shortly :)

[1] Jizz[2] is a birdwatching term refering to a combination of subconscious impressions of shape and attitude that identify a bird when it's too far away to see clearly. For instance, when I ciasp Tom, a friend from school, in Borders I recognised him instantly, but when I looked at him I didn't think he looked the same at all.

[2] And jism means flowing with energy or power. Someone tried to tell me Americans mean something else, but I'm far too English and Genteel to hear any more.

The new orange advert: You must see it. It has Darth Vader in, though unfortunately he doesn't force-choke that annoying orange twat.

Starwars trailer: It looked pretty good, though obviously will still contain its share of annoying bits.

Cliche: OK, this film was called something else, but I can't remember what. A lot of fighter pilots parade get on each other's nerves until they become friends when the girl wears a bikini. A new completely automated fighter is introduced which they're afraid will replace them. It was struck by lightning and comes alive (not really) and is fused into "destroy major american cities" mode (yes really).

HHGTTG was very good. It wasn't perfect, so I had a nagging unsatisfaction, but I did enjoy it very much. I liked all of the characters, though some seemed a bit off -- Zaphod seemed meaner and a lot stupider. I liked most of the changes to the plot, they seemed to streamline and clarify it appropriately. Some additions were very funny. But I don't know what was in Adams's screenplay and what was added by someone else. Some of the humour seemed a little heavy-handed and predictable (not just when I knew what was going to happen because it was in the book) which I don't know if it's a flaw in the film, or if I just don't like Adams as much as I did before.
