My bike brake was rubbing. And I fixed it. Without any mistakes, or any help. And now it goes fast again. It's little victories that make life good :)

Tuesday, CTS games

I brought Star Munchkin and with no tolkien games and no committee to stop us we played it, saying "A level 5 computer virus. I mean Orc," and it was fun and silly! It's better with 4-6 people, but I'm glad we did, I've had it for ages.

Thursday, people got me drunk and fed me maths

Yay, Carlton, beer. Verity introduced me Gareth, who (a) was nice to meet but (b) within five seconds polluted my brain with the latest "hard" numbers and sets maths problem which I've spent all week trying to expunge :)

Friday, DVD evening

Flash; aaah! Cuddly people, hilarious film, and nice food, thanks sonic.

Saturday, poohsoc

Poohsoc suddenly seems to have reverted to being good, with both innuendo, gratuitous democracy, and nice "new" people. Very fun :)

Sunday, CUSFS

Illumninus trilogy is stupid and Edgar Rice Burroughs is stupid! Though probably in a fun way.

Monday

Yay, work done. Rather than not done.

Mushroom and doom

I went to geek pizza and had a gigantic mushroom of doom starter! It was biiiiig and full of textured tasty yummy breadcrumby things, on pasty and a bed of leaves in dressing, and it was just great. Oh, and there were some people and a vanilla pizza too.

As in, margherita. You know, not actually vanilla flavoured. That would have been worth a paragraph, and this wasn't.

Cute bridge-playing assassins of doom

I went to play bridge with assassin-types and lo, it was fun. Thank you!

I definitely prefer a brief post-mortem after hands, it makes the play much more easy to see if you did right. And I like scoring, (rubber or duplicate, but might as well rubber for traditions sake), it helps you notice if anything went on. But our widely varied conventions fit ok, and we bit several passable games and made them. Yay.

What normal people do, but written down and said to be non-planar of doom

We had post-pizza. Possibly I'm being sexist here, but I wonder if a normal pizza is finely balanced between talking about computers and gossip, and a couple of men tip the balance to computers and tonight a couple fewer tipped it the other way?

At any rate, we edified each other by drawing out on the graph of "who we knew who used to date who". Gossip. As I said later, "What else do normal people do, we can do, except writing down and then saying it's non-planar?"

Normal people and geeks aren't very different, just express it differently :)

It was exciting -- some old gossip was unknown but sweet, current gossip I was mostly up to date on, and we had much fun discussing hubs, islands, chains, triangles, K3,3s and K5s.

Also, there was much cuddling, but that was a theme which kind of ran all through the evening.
