For the past two weeks I've had a good roll of my alarm being on for 9.30 and getting to bed by 12 or 1, and waking up just short of it. A regular schedule (though not as regular as it could be) definitely feels good -- it took one week, mon to fri to get going.

This morning, however, after staying up till 2.00 playing bridge and until 4.00 fiddling with adventure games, I turned off my alarm. I woke up at 7.36. I put my alarm back on for late, so I could sleep in but not worry about missing the whole day. I went back to sleep. I woke up, and it was 7.36. I wandered round the whole house, and every single clock was showing that time. I even waited one minute to make sure they were progressing.

* Had I imagined the earlier getting up?
* Had I fallen into a eerie time warp? If they'd all struck midnight, that would have been more appropriately Gothic.
* Had I got up, but not really remembered the time, and my brain filled it in retrospectively?
* What was my body doing waking up now anyway? Being caught up on sleep means one short night doesn't matter (especially when eager to get on with things) but I know it, it'll be all excited from 7.37 till about 8.15, and then want to sleep till 11.00, so I should go and *do* anything.
