US Election

Ironically, I think this is the first political election where I actually woke up needing to go and find what happened. I am actually remarkably relieved, I could just imagine waking up to lots of fraud and legal challenges (and obviously it's tough to find out in five min what the nuances are.)

But Fox News announced Obama, FiveThirtyEight.com announced Obama, John McCain announced Obama. Congratulations. I regret not considering having someone here to have a toast with.

And regardless of what you think, that's another notable point in history. (Of course, America will have to wait to see how it goes, but enough things about the last eight years worried me, that I really hope some good things happen.)

(I still don't know about the Senate elections. "Lots" of seats for Democrats, but a filibuster-proof majority is in not in the bag, though hopefully that had no reason to matter. Nor about California ban on gay marriage. The second is terrifying: if California starts reversing backward now, it'll crash into the western seaboard, and that place doesn't need more tectonic activity.)

Food

This week work produced worcestershire sauce walkers crisps in addition to the others; it's surprisingly pleasant to have a change available.

This lunchtime, Stephen ordered pizza for everyone who felt like it, which has grown to quite a lot of people, but is surprisingly devoid of complicated payment arguments, but was a pleasant and social lunchtime.

At pizza, I. was away but a couple of less frequent visitors came along and it was very jolly. I was impressed that despite having to pay on card, and having two two-for-one vouchers, our estimated total was still accurate to the pound :)

The Carlton, just when I'd given up hope, brought back the mushroom ravioli. I do like the new vegetarian specials too, but lamented that. Tonight I'm probably going to the Cambridge Blue, and if I went to the Carlton tomorrow, what would be best? Get mushroom ravioli twice? Phone ahead to the Carlton to see if it's on, and have one ravioli and one best-meal-from-both-pubs-this-week? :)

On Saturday was the first Dark Heresy session with Edith. (Cut for anyone in the Sunday group, although I don't think there are any big cross-session spoilers yet. If necessary, I'll start f-locking them too.)
