December and Germany
Dec. 8th, 2014 10:39 pmAgh, why am I voluntarily writing _more_ blog above one a day? :) Writing a post a day has been really interesting. I've recapped a lot of things I often talk about, but also covered things I hadn't thought to talk about, and got a lot of really useful comments.
I am going to Germany for work tomorrow until Thursday evening. I will hope to come to the last hour of SGO xmas, but won't be there for most of it. The work itself will be interesting, mostly lecturing on things I already know, and are valuable to teach people. And I'm slowly getting used to travelling.
I had underestimated how busy I'd be through december. I haven't been doing anything specific, but I've kept up a normal amount of socialising, inviting people to dinner, etc, plus usual gym routine, plus lots and lots of logistics for xmas and NY, plus trying to make progress on house moving-in chores, plus organising december events, secret santa etc, plus december blogging. Plus a lot of pent-up life-and-career-evaluating. Plus no time for coding-as-a-hobby :) And I've been running close to the wire recently: I've thrown out a few small things I said I'd do, and I think I should have been more ruthless, reneging a few more things so I erred on the side of being less rushed and more reliable, not more rushed and less reliable.
But I think it's just about all under control now, and xmas and NY will be very very nice, and January is already getting busy, but will have some more time for the things I've started to say "I have time for now" and then postponed another couple of weeks.
I've tried to queue up December posts for Tue/Wed/Thu. Let me know if it works :) If it does, I may finally get into the habit of writing posts in quiet time, and not posting them all together, but when people are most likely to want some thoughtful reading :)
