I remember watching Batman the film a few years ago now, with my brother. When Bruce Wayne starts telling Kim Basinger how he is not like normal people, I expressed confusion, at which point my brother said 'on account of him being Batman'. I had no idea, I sulked at him for the whole rest of the film for that plot spoiler. Over time I have come to see that for most people Bruce=Batman was a given.
