Firstly, it's not fair. How can I have to pay council tax AND get fresher's flu :)

Secondly, agh. I am way too tired not having stopping moving for all week. Sunday might originally be intended to be a lazy day but after (1) lying in 'till 11 to recover from last week (2) dashing out to Chess's roleplaying (3) visiting Sue and persuading her to dance (3) walking past people-I-know-in-Jesus's-house, waving, and being invited in for tea[1] I didn't actually have any lazy at all. Which is nice, because I met lots of lovely people. But nasty, because I'm going to doze all the way through changing-hardwired-numbers-in-code-to-access-non-standardly-soldered-memory-stick at work tomorrow.

[1] And to listen to Katie singing "3F bottles of beer on the wall".

I get that too!

And to listen to Katie singing "3F bottles of beer on the wall".
Surely FF would be more canonical? Or 1000000?

But not as funny. Also, 1000000 is ambigous, you'd have to sing "100000016 bottles of beer on the wall."

Myself, I disdain all numbers but 0, 1 and infinity, which gives more manouvering room than you might think if you've done any ordinal theory :)

Actually, no, I was thinking of 10000002 (being a geek).

How about {}''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' bottles of beer on the wall?

I did wonder, but picked one at random. OTOH, how do you know "16" is in base ten[1], not base -4?

{}''''''''''''

Good one. How about 1 for real boredom?

[1] In text, "ten" is assumed to be decimal; in speech I occasionally use "ten" to mean "10" when the base is without question.

You can't sensibly have base minus four, you silly person.

Why not? 0,1,2,3,130,131,132,133,120,121,122,123,110,111,112,113,100, ...

And you don't even need signs. Counting down: 0,13,12,11,10,23,22,21,20,33,32,31,30, ...

Or fractions. 1/2=1.2, 1/130=1.3, 1/3=err can I get back to you...
