I take it back. Googling for a maths equation seen in a teen movie *isn't* the saddest thing I've seen all week.

The new backup software at work has a registered trademark symbol after the name in the title bar, how sad is that?

OK, it's not really like that, the name is a common word, so it helpfully shows that that is the name of the software/company, rather than a description of the window (at the least) and maybe has some good reason I haven't thought of yet too, such as being part of the name.

But I was amused, this Tuesday evening.
