Go see the thread: http://lark-ascending.livejournal.com/954034.html?thread=3056050#t3056050 (friends locked, HP7 spoilers in post)

"Dark is Rising" is becoming a film! That's another children's series I liked a lot at the time. The idea seems... interesting, but I don't know that they'll pull it off well.

(Also see a blog and imdb.)

That link appears to point to an article cut with "Spoilery reviewy thing", don't you think it should have spoiler warnings too?

I suppose so, I've added it. I'm never quite sure where to draw the line: I tend to assume it's impossible to avoid plot outlines for upcoming films, except when they're specifically about twists, because they're generally all in the trailer if nothing else, so don't bother to avoid it, and that if anyone hasn't read the book yet and wants to, they'd know to avoid that. But there's no harm in playing safe.

I've no idea whether the text actually justifies a spoiler warning, since the author saw fit to put one on though I'm avoiding reading it until I'm five books further ahead of where I am now!

Do you think you *will* read them? FWIW I think skimming that post would make little difference, though if you're going to read the books but not see the films, better not to.

I'm currently engaged in reading the entire series straight through for the first time.

Oh, cool. I thought you were, but when you said you had five books to go, thought you must be just being ironic :)

In which case, I advise avoiding discussion of the film whether marked spoiler or not :) I hope you enjoy it; how *are* you finding them as an adult?

Ah! Sorry, Richard, I totally misunderstood you.

Yes, the thread doesn't, but Vicky's post has spoilers for Harry Potter. It's ok, not major ones, if you happened to see, but many apologies, my mind just failed on that point. Books that have been published for twenty years, I may not cut, anything out this week I definitely would do.

All my comments in this thread applied to Dark is Rising, which may or may not be relevant to you

That's correct. The post in question describes itself as a "spoilery review" of HP#7 and that's what I'm talking about.

Yes, see the above comment :(

Or maybe you should read Dark is Rising instead, solving several problems at once :)

ah - I can't see the post, and haven't read Dark is Rising, so didn't bother following the other links.
