PS. What also bugs me is when people post a link, not editing out superfluous information such as "blah.htm#commentid=foo" or "nc=3". It obviously doesn't matter, especially if you're on dialup and don't have time to screw around, and most links aren't intended to be read, and where it goes is close enough, it just picks at my perfectionism nerve :)
Oh, yes. That gets me every time. Particularly the really long superfluous information like: thing.php?postid=12&PHPSESSIONID=96846416541687498416510302216874968496846847987464545654697496874 Grr. :)
I guess because we're in a strange half and half world. URLs (like HTML markup) are often readable enough that you paste them in without making an "a" tag[1], and that's useful so you can see what they are, and see them in raw html comment notifications, etc. But not *guaranteed* to be, they can legitimately be complicated enough that a proper editor is necessary[2], so you can't rule out *all* long URLs, just gratuitous ones.
[1] I'm glad your example wasn't turned into a link :) [2] Woo, go http://tinyurl.com/u :)
what? is that some firefox thing? do you mean instead of changing from current page to home page, you add home page to bookmarks? are the buttons near each other or something?
I mean, you meant to bookmark "www.blah.com/blog" but you accidently bookmarked "blah.com/blog/blog-10-01-2007.html" because that was the entry you were reading at the time.
I might do the opposite - try and bookmark say the page for a flat I've been looking at, without realising that it's all frames or cookies or something and the bookmark saves the home page.
Yes, that too. Or bookmark an amusing cartoon and realised you've accidently bookmarked the front page -- my fav-cartoon bookmarks always include at least one front page, and me thinking "hey, I don't remember booking that this morning... oops" :)
