my parents used to live in a house called Poor Jack's. I wonder if borrowing that would be appropriate.

I'm all in favour of names like Todd and Pansy cottage, personally. All this fellatio and relativity and and impropriety seems a bit odd to me.

I'm tending to stick to that sort of idea because having a name recognisably studenty'd make it easier to find for people having forgotten the number, and I find them easier and more fun to think of. Also, if it's more unusual it's more likely to be unique. But feel free to suggest anything you think'd be good, it might well strike a chord.

call it piano, then it can strike chords.

I was going to say nocturna, then I thought that sounded like neptune, then I thought if you were going to name it after a planet uranus would have more amusement value.

Wait, did I use 'chord' wrong??

That reminds me of a couple of Angst Technology cartoons.

D: The computer's're called after planets. The file server's called Uranus.
A: I'm can't download logs from Uranus.
B: You should eat more fibre.
A: I can't access Uranus.
B: You'd be lucky.
[etc]
D: FINE! I'll rename the servers. Computer companies?
A: Don't forget Wang.
D: I'll NUMBER the servers.
B: Don't forget 69.
D: OK, WISE GUYS, WHAT IF I NAME THEM AFTER 17th CENTURY FRENCH NOVELISTS? HUH? HUH?
A: I liked Dumbass.
B: I prefered Balsack.

Don't think so. Are you sure you don't want to call it ambiguity? ;)

well, if you're going down that line, is there one called ambiguity yet? What about innuendo?

(On which subject, call it The James and start a Poohsoc naming trend).

I don't think so, but I think those are unfortunately *too* generic; no-one'd remember which is mine :)

Hmm. Not James, for callign houses after people is confusing, but that *is* a thought. *thinks of Pooh puns*

Ther James, not James!

I had another idea, but it went between me thinking of it and me getting to a Livejournal window.

Probably a good thing.

Call it Bayes ;)

I should point out that [livejournal.com profile] fellatiovilla does have some sort of rational basis - the actual name, as written on the wall of the house, is Florence Villa, and Roger has a dirty mind.

OK, so it's not that rational.

Didn't someone in Wales get to Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch first? Besides, I have a limited phlegm budget :) Still, it has a certain something...

Llanfair P.G. if you want to save phlegm. Though if anyone tries to find it and has to ask for directions, it could be fun.

(I actually got applause in an improv rehearsal for saying the full Llanfair. Go me!)

I have to point out that if you call your house "Tir NaN Ogg", I'll be forced to call it "Nanny Ogg's house"

I think you should call the house "Fallover". "I'm going home to fallover".

Yes, 'Ogg' *was* supposed to be one of the puns in the name.

*snork* Fallover is definitely my new favorite.

The house that Jack built.

*thinks about geography*
Lonely Mountain (give the current locations of 'Bag End' and 'Rivendell' I *think* that Milton is thata way. Or maybe I'm upside down in which case I mean Grey Havens.

So, I am paid to attempt to superimpose maps of cambridge on middle earth, right?

Anyway, Rivendell to Bag End to Sherbourne Close seems to be "walk R to BE, then turn 90 degrees left and walk about the same distance". Following that recipe on ME puts you near as dam[1] it at Greyfloodmouth. OK, that's on the list.

"Sleep" comes to mind. Nicholas suggests "Babylon Squared", but is rather half-hearted about it.
