Sorry for asking controversial things last thing at night when I'm half-asleep. I don't have time to go on now (and temporarily froze one thread, I'm afraid), but several people helped out a lot, thank you.

I don't think you're talking to me here, are you?

With which, the thanks or the apology? Actually, yes, you did have helpful comments :) Although, now, you and hmm_tea are spiralling into a doom of misunderstanding, it might be wise to slow down for a little and come back to it this evening. (I've some better guesses at where AoC was trying to come from from what miriam and woodpijn said, and I don't think those quotes, however incorrect in themselves, represent it at all.)

It annoys me that people extend the benefit of the doubt to AoC to such an extent that they're happy for him to have redefined meanings for words. Meanings which aren't specified anywhere, they just assume he has done that.

The discussion with [Bad username or site: hmm_tea' / @ livejournal.com] is unproductive because he thinks that is an OK thing to do. Which is what his latest comments says, that it is ok to redefine scientific terms and then talk about how bad the thing is (after you've changed the meaning of the word).

I want people to take the AoC's statements at face value rather than play games with the words.
