This weekend has no fixed plans. Feeling quite happy, I can do what I like. Should I:

* Go to london, see the zoo?
* Go to london, see the gallery?
* Write a short story about a murder in a fictional pantheon?
* Write lots of emails to livredor?
* Curl up in public somewhere and read for a day?
* Write some code for something simple but potentially useful?

Curl up in public somewhere _in london_ _in the zoo_ and write short stories...? :)

That's how "How the Panther Became" Became :)

Can I vote for the story and the emails? That's what I'd do :)

Actually, on the subject of stories, the Mays deadline is Friday, and I don't think they'll accept my Phoenician chapter, so I'll probably end up sending a Mothicle...

Ooh, shiny. I think I'll save it for next time, I admit I like spontaneity in moderation, but I really should.

I know my criteria, but not yours. So I'll tell you what I would like to do and let you make your own mind up :)

  • Gallery above zoo, any day. Even though it would take me at least 3 times longer to get to the nearest galleries I know about than the nearest zoo.
  • In fact, gallery is pretty high. Especially if you have a particular collection in mind.

  • I can't see myself planning to write a short story a couple of days in advance - but maybe that's why I don't get much writing done.
  • Emails are good. I am somewhat confused by the pluralisation of 'emails' though. I prefer IM for text-based, computer-based conversation. If it's not a conversation, surely writing lots in a single email would work? Although I guess depending on volume and availability of time at the other end, several may be easier. Also for lots of disparate thoughts, but then my thoughts aren't plannable that far in advance.
  • Reading is good. I try to avoid spending whole days reading, because I run out of perfect books too quickly. I often fail and read for so long that I miss a couple of meals. Reading is fun.
  • If the code is simple, I try to save it up for when I am not feeling happy. Then I can a) concentrate on something for a while; and b) have something useful come out the other end. This tends to make things better. If it could be usefult to other people as well, then I am more likely to do it sooner than save up.

:) Thank you!

Alas, no. I had vague thoughts of the national gallery, but not any further than that.

You mean, you'd just write (as opposed to needing a longer period)? I've a bunch of ideas flirting (sic) around in my mind, I can easily sit down and see if any of the beginnings goes anywhere.

I am somewhat confused by the pluralisation of 'emails' though.

Well, there's an awful lot of different topics involved, it seems easier to keep them separated, especially if they're already in two different emails to be replied to. After all, even if I had the time to write a four-hour long email, it would be a month before she had the time to reply to all of it :)

Writing: No time now. Ideas don't stay. Dreams? Failure of translation to words? Memories aren't words. Or maybe it's a feeling of success/completion/idea, but not based on an actual idea therefore inexpressible and infirm. Not the right word. Effervescent? No, that's fizzy. Smaller notebook to travel. Coat? Oh, summer. Problem half solved, though. Half solving two problems doesn't count as much as solving one. But in this case it's solving fully in half the circumstances/time. Still not worth half, unless matched with opposite solution. VERY IMPORTANT. So, ideas. Ineffable, that's the word. Ineffible? No. Although maybe Incomprehensible is more accurate, though it has baggage. Though so does Ineffable. Hmm. The concept is a word which is itself. Like Kadigan. 'Noun'? Yes. 'Actioning'. Not unthinkable - the opposite. Only thinkable. Although, when I do have time it works. Takes time to translate. Too much information in a single idea. 3D/hologram, write down the first view only doesn't give enough info to reconstruct. YES. GOT IT. Must get off train here, is my stop. Will write more later (promise).

Code: I'm not sure, it's actually more in the brainstorm ideas floating in head and decide where to go and plan. I'm not sure what I'd produce.

Reading: Yes, indeed. I have a conveniently large pile (both physical and indirect) of recs now, so some time relaxing with them would be workable.

Oh, definitely! That sounds really cool (cooperative strategic board-game-based call of Cthulhu equivalent, right?), I'd really like to. I'll most probably want to go out Fri and Sat nights, but I don't know for sure.
