Follow-up: Nail Clipping

1. rcv1 suggests another purpose, not clipping in public reduces the risk someone may find a stray clipping and make a voodoo doll. It's not clear if this is causes by, or causes, the politeness theory.
2. Are nail scissors better than nail clippers? Then what are nail clippers for?

Date: 2008-04-01 06:12 pm (UTC)In public maybe, but in private...no no no no no no no. I gave up on nail scissors as soon as I worked out how to use nail clippers at the age of about 8. My issue with nail scissors is it's too easy to start cutting off edge bits and accidentally taking a big chunk out of the middle of your nail, etc., whereas clippers just take a straight line off the top and then you can smooth down the corners with an emery board. When I still used nail scissors I got even more hangnails than I do now.
