Brown = science
White = logic/philosophy
Green = nymphos
Blue = protagonists
Yellow = doctors
Red = SS
Gray = John Major
Black = "There is no black ajah. And they don't worship satan. No no no no no."

Though RJ doesn't keep it up quite consistently.

That's what I said! Though I guess there's a fair amount of overlap: Verin being somewhere between blue and brown. Brown/yellow, blue/grey, brown/white etc seem obvious combinations. I guess (1) you have to suppose that people just pick one or the other, especially if one is a cause thing and one is a methods thing and (2) RJ didn't really think it out :)

I was putting that down to the fact that despite grey being closest to what AS are supposed to do most of, they don't really feature in the books at all.

Perhaps the grey ajah is a myth in invented by a black ajah in case anyone sees her black shawl in a dark place :)
