Oh, a Thor film proposed! http://www.denofgeek.com/movies/130033/branagh_official_for_thor.html

Although they're in decline (both in number and excellence) I like superhero movies. But I've no knowledge of the Thor comics other than that they exist, and approach the idea of a God as a superhero, whatever the background, with some trepidition -- does anyone know if they worked out well?

As I understand it, Marvel have a masterplan for this next few years which entails this, another Iron Man movie, possibly another Incredible Hulk movie, and then near-back-to-back releases of a WWII-era Captain America (backstory for which is heavily alluded to in this past summer's Incredible Hulk) and a contemporary Avengers featuring all of the above characters.

I care more about Watchmen than all of those put together, fwiw; the only character in there to whom I have any sort of connection is the Hulk, and very much not the take on the Hulk that that film went with.

Oh, right, thank you! Well, that's interesting; I don't feel very energised by their choices, but am curious how they come out. And yes, agreed on watchemen (I haven't read those either; I don't seem to get on with graphic novels very much for some reason, but watchmen is so inherently cool I very much want to see how the film does it.).

'they'? There have been Thor comics since 1962...

Some of them good, many of them not. The run by J Michael Straczynski has been getting good reviews though.

Oh, JMS? Then I should pay attention!

Back in the 1980s, they made one or posibly two movie versions of the Incredible Hulk (starring the wonderful Bill Bixby, who also played Bill Bixby in the TV series) in which Thor turned up and helped him out. In this/these Thor was incredibly hot and well executed, I thought :)

There are four: the origin one which is cobbled together from the TV series, a Thor one, a DareDevil one, and one in which the Hulk dies.

I was wondering the other evening what I was doing with the brain cells I had used for storing the syntax details of how one does correlated subqueries in SQL, and I think I now know what overwrote them.

And thanks for this. The memories of the Daredevil one are all coming back to me now...
