The hair definitely has an effect. Last night the fourth and fifth people asked to stroke it.

Girl 1 said it was nice. Girl 2 said I was a jehova's witness, a thug, a marine and a creepy pervent, and was just about as wrong as it's possible to be all times :)

So now I'm not sure. Perhaps if I keep it for people who know me, but wear a hat when I'm out?

Something else occured to me to wonder. It's lovely and soft now, but is that because it's short, or just because since every hair is less than a week old, it hasn't been ruined by tesco's shower gel? Should I be using conditioner?

HAT!

Join the band of wierd people who still wear hats 50 years after they went out of fashion!

You know it makes sense.

They work for some people, notably you. And are very cool when they do. But it's just the hassle -- I'd leave it wherever I put it down.

Conditioner might help but it will get greasy more quickly - OTOH, if you wash your hair every day, it probably won't matter.

Just make sure you use shower gel or shampoo as well

Washing each day is so easy at this length. Soft or greasy, what a choice...

Don't they make two in one any more? :)

Well, my brain thinks that

Shower gel (is worse than) shampoo (is worse than) 2 in 1 (is worse than) conditioner

I was bought up being told that soap was really bad for hair, and that you shouldn't wash your hair with stuff you wash your body with.

I firmly believe that shower gel is a magic substance that is all cleansing liquids to all things :)

I believe there was a blind test done of various shampoos in the US a while back. Washing up liquid came in only slightly below average.

I don't think it's going to make a lot of difference what you wash your hair in when it's that short and washed every day. Tesco Value 2 in 1 is surprisingly good, and has a pleasing gloopy blue texture.

Well, everything liquid is mainly Sodium something sulphate, isn't it? It's all the same :)

"washed every day"

Doesn't washing more often make it worse?

"pleasing gloopy blue texture"

I've never officially based alien slime monsters on Tesco personal care products, but it's an obvious influence. They are chaotic good, and glow :)

I was told: washing up liquid is degreasing, hence good for hair, soap is more likely to just try it out. friend of mine just uses soap and his is soft though.

can I suggest experiment?

oh, and, I got bored of washing my hair. If I don't look in the mirror I don't get around to washing it until it's sticky enough to annoy me now (or when AJ's visiting :). I think I'm saving on shampoo.

I did try the "if you never wash it it washes itself" thing, and it didn't work, though. Well, it sort of got into that "I really ought to wash my hair but I can get away with leaving it another day" thing and stayed there, and eventually when I was leaving my job at the parsnip factory and wanted to be really clean and de-parsnipped I washed it.

Experimenting is good, it just feels overkill somehow. I guess it makes sesne.

you need to go on a run of four-star hotels and girly magazines and get lots of free one-wash packets of things so you don't have to buy the whole bottle ;)

Well, I'd start with trying (a) soap (b) gel (c) shampoo (d) shampoo & conditioner which I can probably manage to buy. The sort of girly magazines I get don't seem to have hair care samples :)

What about the sort of hotels you go to? :)

They're generally a bit of someone's floor :)
