Tomorrow morning I have a job interview at Autonomy. Anyone thinking good thoughts about me at 11am would be greatly appreciated.
"You don't want to be a java gimp, but your strong academic background is exactly what they want for a programmer."
"Well, there's worse sorts of gimps to be paid to be. But yes, the programming sounds good."

I'm not just saying this because I get to make hiring decisions and get a referral bonus; I'm leaving next week, so both are pretty doubtful. The work is a mix of entrepreneurship knowledge (and learning about stuff like what VCs actually do all day), Linux hacking (if you're me, anyway), and using google creatively to dig out information on companies. Occasionally you have to phone them up. Knowledge of anything IT-ish is useful, ability to assimilate information quickly more so.
If you're interested let me know & I'll pass on the email address of the hiring manager. Or it's in the careers bulletin from one of the recent weeks. either way, say you know me if you apply - it's a 100% success record so far ;-)
If you're not interested - no worries. :)
