I mainly want to get my poem recorded somewhere:
And did those paws in ancient time
Walk upon Pembroke's lawns so green
And was the bear of A. A. Milne
In pembroke's pleasent parlours seen?

And did the countenance ursine
Shine forth upon our crowded hill?
And was pooh corner builded here
Just up the road from anchor n mill?

Bring me my tea of bruning gold
Bring me my biscuits of desire
Bring me my minutes, let them unfold
Bring me my testaments of fire!

I will not quail from mental fright
Nor shall my pen sleep in my hand
Till we have built pooh corner here
In poohsoc's weird and twisted land
I like this one. Though since in general my poetry isn't so good I don't know why I feel impelled to do this every election.

I stood for president, and in retrospect should perhaps have put in some thought about actually being president rather than writing poetry. But then I don't think I really wanted the responsibility anyway, I just felt I ought to give it a go, and I actually think Naath will do a better job.

Then we had dinner at sonicdrift's, edit: who did a masterful job of cooking pasta with red sauce whilst wearing black tie which was a very pleasent evening, and in fact entirely teetoal. I for one hadn't quite recovered from last night. And I don't even recall anyone stroking my hair, though I may have forgotten. After I had to sleep very quickly before the next morning (cf. belated monday blogging).

"Please take my actors scripts away!"

Funny, though :)

It wasn't going to be teetotal, but I don't think anyone quite had the energy to open the wine. What, no mention of me heroically cooking spaghetti bolonese in a ball dress? :)

Awful hymn, but I like what you've done with it. Shame about the presidency :(

You don't like it? OK, people are more sophisticatedly musicly (and lyrically) than me don't so it probably isn't very good, but it's easy to adapt and sounds incredable from 10000 throats, doesn't that count for something?

I just think it's one of those hymns that's massively over-sung, though I do realise that many people (including Princess Diana) love it. Maybe it's because it's Holst that I've heard it too much

OK, it probably is over-used, but since I don't hear hymns at all that often, I'd tend to think "Well, go and find me one of the under-appreciated but as good ones" rather than "Consurn it, Jerusalem is getting tedious" m*shrug*

Think of all the extra use for your talents as Secretary rather than President though! Why, you could write the minutes in musical form every week! In fact, votes to mandate....Um, no. you would seek revenge:)
At least you weren't booted off the committee completely.....

Oh, yes, *good* choice. Imagine what would be recorded just after such a motion. For instance,

There once was a girl, sonicdrift
Who to lie in the minutes was swift
In more senses than one
In this quote she's undone:
"She danced without even a shift!"

:) Sorry it's a bit crude (in more senses than one), I was very hampered for ryhmes :)

<Job's comforter>At least you weren't booted off the committee completely.....</Job's comforter :)>

Aw, thanks! :) Seriously, yes, I'm very happy being seceratary.
