May Ball

Mole and Cassie were hoping to organise a trip with Rachel and I and some others to a May Ball in summer, Half a dozen of us would definitely like to go if we can. The tickets go on sale today and in the next couple of days. He suggested Jesus or Clare (both Tues XX of June).

A few years ago, several ex-c-tolkien-society and current-c-tolkien-society went to Robinson, and before that to Jesus, and it had lots of black tie, pretty scenery, fun events, and so on, so I recommend it.

Is anyone else interested in joining us?

And does anyone know if we _can_ -- I think two years ago tickets at several of the nice-but-not-Johns balls were available to buy to the public, or only to members of the university but they could get half-a-dozen double tickets each, but more recently information seems to be sparser and tickets seem to sell out a lot more quickly and be more restricted (to current students, or current members of the university?)

I might be amenable to such an excursion. I am a current member of the university (but not a student), if that turns out to help.

I can't justify a trip to a ball this year, but I am a current member of Clare College - tickets go on sale to college members at midnight on 31st Jan and are college-only for a week, then I presume they go on general sale. I'll try and find out what the restriction are for the college member tickets, I'm not using my allocation so I'm happy to buy them for you guys if you want them.

Perhaps look at http://www.jesusmayball.com/, which (eventually) has a link to buy tickets, and see if has any useful information? The same may be said of other websites, but I don't know for sure.

It says tickets on sale to "all university students" (from tomorrow). Doesn't say anything about non-students :(

A raven log in, yesterday it said that I wasn't authorised (I'm guessing because I'm not at Jesus). Now it says that tickets are all sold out (gosh).
