OK, my new organisedness has been so successful that I've been: (1) getting enough sleep, just about, before 9am; and (2) my life the next day has been being promising enough that I'm looking forward to finishing stuff at work and getting some spodding done and meeting people for lunch later than I actually eagerly wake up; that I've actually, most days this week, woken up five to ten minutes before my alarm, got up, spent ten minutes showering and playing monkey island, and gone!

Normally I only do that at christmas, but now every day is exciting, etc. I wonder how long if at all I'll be able to keep it up?

PS. Don't hate me, aftet the rest of my life I deserve to be organised for a little bit now :)

gosh, it's like you're turning into a grown up. aren't you worried?

I wonder how long if at all I'll be able to keep it up?

until you're out late on a week night?

Very like. But it's all the good stuff, I mean, buying a USB pen stick drive shiny widget, and getting VCResque to work and getting up on time aren't boring, neh?

until you're out late on a week night?

Well, I wasn't *out* late, but I was up till two playing with my dec hauppage.

So maybe there's hope for me yet :) After all, one of my other posts nearly said I wanted to be three again :)

go you!

I found http://www.flylady.net for turning round a disorganised life, and yes, it's wonderful, and yes it can be like this every day!

Thanks. I think mum put it best as a 'virtuous cycle' -- when I'm ahead, I, well, go. Unfortunately, I'll probably need a backstop -- something like flylady -- to catch me if I ever fall, because I'll end up in a vicious cycle, and have to catch up all over again.

flylady is good - the whole point is you don't "catch up" you just keep going from where you are right now.

i.e. you're never behind, you're just taking a slightly different route :)

Yes, that's the secret I discovered; don't worry about what you haven't done, just worry about doing *something* *anything* and you'll make slow progress[1]. And once you're ahead, it reinforces itself.

But all the same, when you're far ahead it is easier, so I'd rather stay nice than have to start from bad, even if I can :)

[1] It may not be fast enough, but it's better than what you had before, and hopefully with the reincorcing itself it *will* be enough.

Actually, I'm at work stealing a naughty spod before I go home, which I will due imminently, due to simpsons. And probably barely be online over the weekend, so, sorry; but hopefully next time I will be :)

*giggles*

I left early from work, with permission. Which makes me feel so much better.

I'm working tomorrow, and bouncing Sunday...

LOL.

I practically am leaving early, considering what times I normally get in. (Not *late* compared to what I used to, but 5 isn't *late* :))

I worked an extra 30 minutes on Tuesday, which means I get to snaffle it today.

And I'm just eternally grateful our flexitime is very informal: I have to actually produce working stuff :( but when I have, I can go :)

Speaking of which, I'm going. See you later! :)

I found the site had some good advice on it but it was hard to cut through the layers and layers of patronising endearances and saccharinity. Perhaps I'm just too cynical.

not at all.

The advice is great. The woman is bloody annoying.

Oooh, good, I'm not alone then.

Perhaps if someone British rewrote it (no, I'm not volunteering!) it would be bearable, but about as far as I've got with it is "15 minutes at a time" and "put lemon juice on your sink".

I had a lot of thoughts on this subject when I went on the training course. Translating information into the recipient's langauge can be amazingly communicating: eg. a mathmo will understand best quite different metaphors to a poet.

OTOH, if you're aware of it, sometimes you can get past the langauge something's presented in. And sometimes a different langauge can be useful, depending on the aim: for instance, perhaps the sugary language here says "Even people who talk aww cutswey pie can do this. You can only laugh at the language if you do what it's recommending."? :)
