Toy Story 3

jackToy Story 3 was very good. It was less involved than #2, which was a mixed blessing: I think #2 had too much in, and a simple story served the film generally a lot better, even if it might have been marginally simpler than I would have preferred.
Bad things
There were very, very few.
1. A few scenes were stretched out slightly too long.
2. The villain was a little too reminiscent of Stinky Pete, and the ending was a little stale. I don't want to criticize because once you've got a villain fallen from grace, then all the possible endings all seem a little cliche, so while it wasn't the best ever, it was hard to suggest anything that would have been better.
3. Some of the toys in the nursery were cool, but didn't have as much individual screen time as you'd like.
4. The "misunderstanding, X doesn't love me anymore, and Woody is lying" plot is very tiresome by this time, but it only really came up in passing.
Good things
1. The whole beginning sequence, with the "death by monkeys" button on Doctor Porkchop's spaceship.
2. All the regular gang of toys have moments of shining
3. The new nursery toys were very cool designs.
4. The villains were cool: you can understand why someone WOULD make the set-up they had, even if it was evil.
5. It was genuinely creepy and scary at several points. It's amazing that it can be both cute and scary at the same time, but it is. It's toy story, I'd have bet any money the toys weren't going to die, but it genuinely felt like they were going to to (unlike many films, where even if the danger is supposed to be real, and regardless of whether the character survives or not, you don't EXPECT them to die).
6. Ken is somewhat camp, and sometimes played for laughs, but is not JUST that, and takes charge from Lotsa at the end.
7. The little girl's teaparty was incredibly cute, and lovely that Woody enjoyed it. It was good they managed to show her doing neither "stereotypical girl stuff" or "stereotypical boy stuff" which is what I feared.
8. It was so cute when the aliens saw the claw, and were all worshipful, and were right.
