Things happen! A majority of plots progress forward, not backwards! Several mysteries so old I'd forgotten they were supposed to be mysteries (rather than just inexplicable happenings) are resolved.

Major players on the side of light talk to each other, and plan and execute things together, as do major players on the side of the dark.

They cleanse the source

I honestly think it would have been better if cleansing the source had been a plot point explicitly carried over several books, with intrigue and plotting, rather than some of the ones that ARE, and felt it was a little abrupt (if realistic) that after so much manoeuvring, the climax is a lot of people running around in the woods not able to see anything until killed from behind, but in general, this book was very enjoyable.

Even the bits which I'm reliably informed are doom in the long term, like Faile's capture by Shaido, are good plot points within this book.
