Isn't loopback cheating somewhat?

I was worrying even about RFC1918 space – nearly all the IP addresses I know off the top of my head are in my home network, or someone else's home network, or elsewhere on the SGO-VPN. I decided RFC1918 space should be OK to count, but I didn't even think of loopback.

(Outside the SGO-VPN, for some reason I still have the addresses of two Cambridge University name servers stashed in my long-term memory. They're of virtually no use these days, except that in situations where I don't have functioning DNS and need to test my Internet connectivity, I still ping 131.111.8.42 because it's an external address that I know is actually in use.)

131.111.12.20, or a different one again?

Oh, wait, now I see you quoted that very address several comments up. I was late into work this morning and the coffee hasn't kicked in yet...

Assuming it isn't; 127.0.0.1 ::1 172.17.207.1 172.17.207.18.
I can't be bothered to count up email addresses.

Nope, because many people won't know even that one.

I did think to count Panther, but not infrastructure numbers like 999 and directory enquiries. I also deliberately didn't count a number that I hadn't used in years and couldn't remember whether it was defunct or not (on the basis that if I did want to phone that person I'd have to look up how, and surely that's the reasonable criterion for "do you know their number by heart").

Email addresses are a bit hard to count because I could infer a lot of them by sticking "@chiark" on the end of something plausible :-) So I stabbed a finger wildly in the air.

Same with me and emails - I run notzen.com so that a bunch of my friends can have email addresses there. And a load more are "$name@gmail.com" or similar.

I know my mobile phone number and my parents' house phone number (and 999 and some of the directory enquiries numbers but I forget which of those are which company anyway). I'm bad with numbers.

I know exactly zero IP addresses. Not even the ones on the home network. Numbers, bad.

Lots of email addresses though. username@chiark for lots of people and username@lj for many many more. Oh and a whole bunch of crsids which are slightly harder to remember.

I may be over 50 for email addresses but largely because of all the alias' I administer etc/are me. In terms of emails which actually go to someone rather then default to a central address then it's under 50 but if you include mailing lists it'd be way over.

Phone numbers: me, Rachael, Mum, Dad, Mum+Dad's home number; my work number, my company's reception, my bank. Didn't count 999.

IP addresses: 127.0.0.1 is the only one I actually know.

Email addresses: Lots. Probably not quite as many as when I was at university and knew lots of people by their 5-character CRSIDs.
Actually, lots and lots, because all my colleagues are firstname.lastname@mathworks.co.uk or @mathworks.com, and I know at least 30 colleagues' names. I wasn't even thinking of them when I checked 50+, but I think that's still accurate. I suspect I wouldn't quite get to 100 listing email addresses OTTOMH.
