Did I know who Paul of Tarsus was? Not a sausage.

Did I know who Saint Paul was? Well, of course.

Gut reaction still says there's going to be a fair few people more influential in history, but it's too early in the morning to come up with specific names...

Yeah, I realised "have you heard of" in the poll was ambiguous, but I didn't want to tip off in the question otherwise everyone on LJ would have an unfair advantage over those of us playing; I assumed everyone did know St Paul and it was only the moniker which was weird.

Surprised that so many people think him the most influential person in human history. I mean, he's a serious candidate, but so are Laozi, Confucius, Marx, Muhammad and Aristotle.

It didn't seem very many checked that. I was certainly exaggerating a little for comic effect, and agree there's no way you can say that definitively :)

I suspect people are prone to say that, not because they think definitely think Christianity has had more effect than Islam, but to emphasise how much of Christianity was due to Paul. (I deliberately made that option "maybe" rather than "was")
