Google search thinks calls to USA from giffgaff cost 3p/min and from virgin landline costs, um, some undisclosed amount, but maybe 10p/min, 30p/min or 90p/min? Is that really right?

Also, seriously, NOT EVERYONE IS AN EXPERT IN YOUR FIELD. Even among experts, conventions sometimes differ. Just swallow your pride and when you quote price, say per what unit of time and don't expect people to automatically know.

Yes, everyone should use SI units! Yes, it's ridiculous that a competitor might use a price which is literally sixty times more or less than yours. But BOTH THOSE THINGS HAPPEN. Just go ahead and, when giving a number, ALWAYS QUOTE THE UNITS. Honestly, it doesn't hurt as much as you think, and it makes you look so much more professional.

It's not obligatory to be helpful the minimum amount possible. Sometimes you can be MORE helpful than absolutely necessary, and if it later turns out that, for instance, someone for whom English isn't their first language, or someone who isn't very mathematically literate, is also able to tell what you mean, well, that's not the end of the world.
