Have I asked this before? People at work are trying out a static code analysis tool for C++, but it doesn't seem to be very helpful and would be expensive to buy (I'm not sure exactly which). Is there a standard everyone should just use (for windows or linux)?

I honestly found applying Programming Research's QA C to an existing C code base to be genuinely helpful (I found actual bugs by wading through things), though it was certainly a lot of work.

I haven't encountered that one, so fair enough, it could perfectly well be another exception to my general rule!
