Surely a classicist should be aware of the arts of rhetoric? If I say something that I, you, and any reasonable person interprets with hyperbole, in what sense does it not mean what we think it means?

It's being schooled in the arts of rhetoric that makes me so damn pedantic ;) There's something pleasant about irritating people who are using rhetoric. I wonder if it's a feature of being a classicist... but I doubt it is ;)

LOL. I think *I'm* pedantic because I like exploring things, the same reason I pick at mathematical and scientific axioms. Why do you want to make people cross?
