OK, I bought more gloves. From the internet.

I always forget that that's a sensible option. I just get used to what I have, and never stop to think "could this problem be solved in less than £10 with no additional effort", even though if I did the answer would be obviously yes.

And if the old pair of gloves turns up, I'll have spares. Go me!

When Follow That Page told me that the council had added "textiles" to the "what you can recycle in which bin" webpage, I was all excited.

But it turns out that they just added it to the list of "do not put these things in your green bin".

There's a stuffed toy hanging from a telephone wire across Chesterton High Street. Is it worth seeing if BT care? I asked the council and they say it's not their problem and to phone BT, but if it doesn't harm the wire I don't see why BT would care.

Synchronised work and home bookmarks ✓

This should be really easy, but I've procrastinated over it for ages. For some reason I had trouble getting firefox sync to work, so I decided to try Opera.

Having several major browsers sharing market share seems to be really helpful for interoperability, switching was really easy, and everything works much the same, but slightly snappier.

There's little things that bug me though -- you can't middle click to open a menu item from the bookmarks toolbar, or drag it onto a text box, or delete it?

I know sync should be a small thing, but I think it's actually really helpful, because if I'm obsessive about putting "to read later" things onto a bookmark menu, it's LESS work because then I don't carry them around in my head.

I've not actually tried it from the other computer yet. So far it seems to merge the bookmarks reasonably sensibly, coping with deletions as well as additions, and syncing promptly without losing a bunch of changes each time, but I'll see if it lasts.

Jack's life advice: a mobile welder sounds awesome, but if you're a mobile welder, don't paint a sign telling people "rob the mobile welder" on the side of your van :)

Stupid body. I've persuaded it it likes getting up at 8 every day, but now I can't explain that "every day" doesn't include Sunday.

Body: Rise and shine! Fresh as a daisy!
Me: ... OK, but I thought maybe I'd have a lie in today actually
Body: Oh, you're wonderfully well rested. You can't stay in bed, there's websites to design and blog posts to write...
Me: I have a job now. I can validate myself by doing THAT well. I can spend all Sunday walking in the sunshine and watching DVDs.
Body: No, let's get doing! Go! Go! Go!
Me: ...

Apparently there was a serious fire at the Carlton: the upstairs was damaged, but everyone and the rest of the building is mostly ok. I don't know any more than in the link. Eek!

No snow

I left my car outside overnight, and when I came back, all the snow had gone away and the windscreen washers miraculously started working again. Apparently Cambridge is a hitherto unsuspected bosom of enveloping supra-zero warmth.

I solved a medical problem before the characters on the show did. But it was Scrubs, not House, so that probably doesn't count as clever.

I am probably in London this afternoon, but probably returning late afternoon or early evening so not staying long enough to meet anyone; but do let me know if you think I'm mistaken :)

As predicted, according to BBC, Labour/Lib talks are not going through, Lib/Con talks seem to prosper, several people talk as if it's essentially settled, Con look happy, and it's as yet unknown if Lib are happy.
