Battlecores

In a virtual universe, when people are defined to be self-aware programs, several normal terms take on different connotations.

A catatonia is always psychological, and often voluntary. Some people become incapable of social interaction. Some people freeze themselves, stopping processing themselves, until -- possibly -- some stimulus occurs. Some continue generating the same living scapes, games, etc within themselves, but eschew all contact.

Now, a nasty demon hatched accidentally by the hacker Magnifioso was rumoured to use some of the same exploits Grond had used in the battlecore. And that the Council wanted to recover some data from a corrupted scape before overwriting it. Johnny, the security expert recently amused by Magnifioso's Rainbow Cicada Bombs, was asked to enter Cracus's ice-scape and see if he can persuade him to wake.

Is it possible that I'm better at writing synopses than stories? :)

New Year's was fun. I looked in the mirror before I left, and I don't know why, but somehow I looked good. Happy, fresh-faced, contented, exciting, like the pictures of me as a child. I'm sure I'm imagining it, but that's good by itself :)

I coded until a bit late, and then got ready and headed to Relativity, and later to Oblivion. There were many beautiful people, we sang in the new year, I have pooh-game-name advice, and new author recommendations, and a very nice girl told me I was a good dancer. I got rather tipsy (sorry) but safely and enjoyably so, I think.

Happy new year!

Last night, however, it rained really quite an awful lot. About half way to my friend's house I gave up cycling because the wind was too strong and sideways and the rain was too stinging in my face, and too obscuring. I was literally soaked to the skin. Memo to self: before going out, think if the weather is getting worse or better.

One more book is a little the worse for wear, being dried out but rather distorted. So I might as well read in the bath. I have books because I want to use them round and about. Having them beautiful and pristine is nice, but only a bonus, to be acquired if possible.
