Although, to be fair, all of my bitching about beaurocracy was that I had to visit the surgery to register. In truth, even though Id never been to this surgery before, in order to register, I had to turn up with my NHS number, address, date of birth, and nothing else, and fill in a form that took 5 minutes, and I rang two hours later and everything was sorted.

And in order to see the doctor, I rang up and had an appointment later that day (or failing that within another day or so). Now I'm registered I can apparently book online. There was no administration at all -- just turn up, talk to the doctor, and leave.

I've heard so many horror stories about GP reforms I was very pleasantly surprised that it was completely easy. And Im very lucky to (a) live somewhere its that easy and (b) fall into the category of things that are expected and dont get the runaround.
