Quotations, Memes and Jokes - Rand Al'Thor is an ass

A few quotes that tickled me yesterday:

Limyaael: Rand Al'Thor is an ass from which Jordan can pull whatever he likes.
(Actually, I like Rand, despite Jordan's numerous, nay, multitudinous, faults. But it's such a funny quote.)

Colleage: That's nothing. I once had an appliance that blew up when you took the fuse out.
Me: That's... impressive. Appart from being startlingly stupid, it should actually be impossible.
Colleague: The fuse was in a bypass ciruit. Whithout it all the current started going through the delicate bits it was supposed to protect.

College student: *summons a demon to help him pass an exam*
College student: I command you to help. I've always been bad at geometry...
Demon: I'll say you are. *steps out of the hexagon*

I got bored of the tedious details of Rand's angst somewhere in the middle of Book 6.

Twice.

First some time around 1995/96, then last year when I re-read them I got to about the same point before giving up.

At least it's fairly reasonable; if you accept that Rand is forced into the leader of the free world role^[1] he is going to get lots of people killed, and since he can't fix that, feeling wretched seems a natural response.

Of course, angsting about "None of my three women like me because I keep lying to scare them off" or "Ditto ditto ditto friends" or "Oh, woe is me, 'father' can mean both 'biological father' and 'man who raised me and I trust more than everyone else' and I don't understand that," os annoying, but on the whole it worked for me.

[1] I was going to say something there like "And if you don't there's no point reading" but so many people -- including me -- HAVE reached that point, it wouldn't have helped my case.
