I've just realised the thing I have been doing on (so far) 13 samples out of 48 is probably not actually the correct estimate to make. Trouble is that I can't think of a better way to do that doesn't involve a huge amount more work such that it will take me several days to do the whole thing and I'll still go insane.

No one will die if I get it wrong, but it's me who'll end up using the data I do get, and so if I fudge it all I'll know when I try and use it.

I'm going to see if I have my minidisc player anywhere to make things a bit less tedious...
